In her Saturday singles encounter against Romania’s Andreea Prisacariu, Poland’s red-hot world number 1 Iga Swiatek did not drop a game, ensuring Poland’s place in the Billie Jean King Cup finals in November.

Marketa Vondrousova and Karolina Muchova won the doubles decider for 11-time champions the Czech Republic, beating Harriet Dart and Katie Swan 6-1 7-5 in Prague to clinch a 3-2 triumph against Britain and a berth in the finals.

In singles action, Vondrousova, the 2019 French Open runner-up, defeated Britain’s Emma Raducanu 6-1 6-1 despite the teenager’s right foot blisters before Dart leveled the tie at 2-2 with a 6-0 5-7 6-2 victory against Czech Republic’s Linda Fruhvirtova.
