YELLOWKNIFE — The Northwest Territories has released its plan for when residents of its 33 communities will receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
The N.W.T. received 7,200 doses last week and administered its first shots on Thursday to long-term care residents and staff.
The territory’s chief public health officer, Dr. Kami Kandola, says about 130 residents have received their first doses of the vaccine so far.
Other long-term care residents in Yellowknife, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, Hay River, Inuvik and Norman Wells are to receive their first doses this week.
Starting Monday, all eligible residents in 11 communities will be able to get the vaccine.
The remaining communities are scheduled to get the vaccine in February and March.
